Q. Can I keep my vision from getting worse?
A. It is recommended that you take frequent eye breaks when you are working on the computer, reading text or spending time outside. You should also be sure to wear your prescription lenses and practice any eye skills that your doctor has recommended.
Q. When should I schedule the first eye exam for my children?
A. It is recommended that children have their first eye exam at six months of age and every year after that.
Q. How do you test the vision of my children if they can’t read or talk?
A. We use symbols in place of letters and much of our evaluation require little input from the patient. During your child’s eye exam we focus on evaluating eye strength, muscle status, and eye health. We re able to obtain the critical information that we need to make an accurate diagnosis without your child saying a word.
Q. How often should I schedule an eyes exam for myself?
A. We recommend that you have your eyes examined every year in order to keep your eyes healthy. An annual exam can detect early signs of macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy as well as high blood pressure, neurological disorders, high cholesterol, thyroid disease, and cardiovascular problems.
Q. How long will my eye exam take?
A. Your eye exam will take about thirty minutes. During your exam we will discuss your eye health and any vision problems you might have. We will also recommended the best solutions for your needs.
Q. Can my eyes get worse if I wear my glasses too much?
A. Your vision generally will not get worse by wearing your prescription eye glasses. Be sure that the lenses or glasses you wear are the prescription recommended by your doctor.
Q. How often should I replace my disposable contact lenses?
A. Your disposable contact lenses will vary depending on your eyes, lifestyle, and the amount of time you are wearing them each day. We will evaluate your eye health and discuss the best schedule for you during your eye examination.
